What is the distance of the 2 walking tracks at the Leeds Historical Park?

The paved walking tracks at the Leeds Memorial Park on Highway 119 have 2 lighted tracks for your walking pleasure. The short track is just under a half mile and the long track is just under 1 mile.  Walk an additional 50 paces on either track to achieve the full distance.  The tracks were originally of exact lengths of 1/2 mile and 1 mile, but a course alteration to accommodate a roadway altered the course as noted above.

No, The Greater Birmingham Humane Society serves the Leeds area. They can be reached at 780-7281, or online at www.gbhs.org.

The Jefferson County Animal Control does provide euthanasia pickup service for an animal you own for a fee, call 591-6522 for more information. This might possibly be a need you have if your animal can not be placed on a leash, controlled, or is too large to move yourself, and you can not carry the animal to the Humane Society.

If you are new to Leeds become familiar with our three major roads.  They are Parkway Drive (which is also US 78 and runs east and west through Leeds), Ashville Road (Which is also US 411 and runs North to I-20 and South to 119), and Highway 119 (which runs west to US 280).

Where is the Leeds Water Works?

On Thornton Avenue. If heading east on Parkway turn left on to 9th Street at the City Municipal Courts building (the next block after Amsouth Bank).  Cross over the railroad tracks and immediately turn right on to Thornton at the Chamber of Commerce DEPOT Train Station.  Continue on Thornton under the train trestle (CAUTION - One Car only, can pass under trestle) and past a wooded area and the Water Works will be on the right.
